The Genuine Food Company was formed in the Fall of 2011 to meet a need we were finding within the Baltimore agricultural community. There has been a growing demand for local, free-range, humanely raised food. More and more people in the Baltimore area want to know where their food comes from, and that is of the highest quality possible. We found ourselves sharing similar ideals to our community, so it only made sense for us to start one of the first Meat CSAs in the Baltimore region.
We rely on a strong network of like-minded farmers in the Baldwin/Long Green Valley area of Baltimore County. Our farmers take pride in raising their animals the right way; no growth hormones or additives and we take the proper steps to provide our animals with a stress free environment. Our cows cattle are able to graze freely and our hogs can come and go from their shelter as they please. If you ever come for a visit to one of our farms, it might look our animals are on vacation. We plan to keep it that way too.
The founders of The Genuine Food Company are Bobby Prigel, of Prigel Family Creamery and Bellevale Organic Dairy in Glen Arm, MD and Steve Belkoff of Forever Endeavor Farm in Baldwin, MD. We both enjoy being connected to our neighbors and having the honor to feed the people directly connected to our day-to-day life. You can trust our integrity because our families eat the food we raise too.
